The Dunlin Wedding That Felt Like It Was Always Going to Happen
Childhood Best Friends to Newlyweds: Lexi and Emory's Garden Wedding at The Dunlin
There is something different about a couple who has known each other their whole lives. Lexi and Emory grew up down the street from each other, became high school sweethearts, and got married at The Dunlin in Charleston, South Carolina with the kind of ease that only comes from two people who have never had to figure out who they are to each other. Lisa of Abby Jiu Photography photographed the day. Planning and event design by Samkoma.
A Lowcountry garden at its most beautiful
The Dunlin holds a garden party like nowhere else. Open, airy, set against the South Carolina Lowcountry with enough natural beauty that the florals by Fiore Design House felt like an extension of the landscape rather than an addition to it. A palette inspired by nature, shapes that breathed, soft blooms that never competed with the setting. Strings by Kira played through the ceremony. The Heather Hayes Experience Band took over for the reception.
Every outfit a moment, every moment completely her
Lexi worked with stylist Gabrielle Hurwitz, and it showed in every frame. Her wedding gown by Danielle Frankel and reception dress by Alexandra Pijut were each their own moment while still feeling completely like her. That is the mark of a stylist who understands that the goal is never to look dressed up. It is to look like the best version of yourself on the most important day of your life. On what made this day work
A childhood love story, a Lowcountry venue at its best, and a team that understood the assignment from the first conversation. Lexi and Emory did not try to make their wedding look like anything other than exactly what it was, two people who have always belonged together, celebrating that in a place that felt made for them.
