Every Guest Wore a Different Shade of Sunset
Citrus, Cascading Drapery, and a Dress Code Nobody Forgot: A St. Regis Longboat Key Wedding
Dani spent childhood summers on the shores of Longboat Key. Choosing St. Regis Longboat Key Resort wasn't a decision so much as an inevitability. Abby Jiu photographed the day. Planning and design by Ann Travis Events.
A room that turned heads before anyone sat down
The vision was equal parts refined and relaxed. Sunset hues of the Emerald Coast, the understated glamour of Old Florida, lush organic textures, and vintage sophistication that felt more like a party under the palms than a traditional ballroom reception. Kaleidoscope Floral filled the space with citrus-toned blooms, warm and abundant, set beneath cascading drapery by Swag Decor and rattan pendant lights that made the whole room glow.
But the detail that made this wedding impossible to scroll past was the dress code. Each guest arrived in a different shade of the sky at golden hour. Together they became a living work of art, a reflection of Florida's west coast sunsets translated into fashion. It was the kind of idea that sounds bold on paper and looks extraordinary in real life. Abby moved through the room all evening capturing it, a detail that only works in photographs when the photographer knows exactly when to step back and let a moment breathe and when to step in before it disappears.
Dani wore a gown by Danielle Frankel Studio. Hair and makeup for the bride by Rocio Does Makeup and I.M. Hair. The wedding party looked after by Femme Akoi.
What Abby Jiu Photography brings to a wedding like this
A property this beautiful, a design vision this specific, a dress code this cinematic demands a photographer who can read the room, disappear into it, and come back with images that feel like the day actually felt. Abby moved through the St. Regis Longboat Key all evening doing exactly that. Not pulling anyone away from the moment, not interrupting what was happening, just anticipating it. Couples who work with Abby describe not noticing she was there at all, and then opening their gallery and finding every single thing they hoped would be captured.
That is the thing about editorial wedding photography done right. It never looks like work. It just looks like the truth.
On what made this day work
St. Regis Longboat Key rewards a strong point of view. Dani and Zach had one, and Ann Travis Events executed it without losing an ounce of the warmth that made the whole celebration feel alive. When the setting is this considered and the vision is this clear, the photographs take care of themselves.
