Mary Kay and Bill were married by the bride’s uncle at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DC. It’s such a personal ceremony when being officiated by a relative, and Mary Kay’s uncle did not disappoint. The couple’s vows were even accompanied by a “Happy Birthday” ensemble to Mary Kay’s mother, Theresa. After the intimate and personal ceremony we headed to the Carnegie Institution of Science where the reception was held. The band, Black Tie, provided incredible entertainment and kept the guests on the dance floor all night. So happy for you Mary Kay and Bill!

Rob and J traveled from their hometown of Austin, Texas to get legally married in the District. It was such an unbelievable experience to photograph their wedding, and their ceremony was one of the most emotional that I have photographed. The meaning of their marriage, and what it represents to them and to their family was so amazing. You could tell everyone in the room was so close to the couple. Congrats to the Rob and J!

This is Rob and J’s line that they recited during the ceremony. J wrote it on his hand so he could see it just in case he forgot.

J’s sister is an Episcopal minister and married the couple

Stephanie and Matt had a gorgeous DC Christmas wedding. While some may shy away from cold weather, Stephanie picks the winter season as her favorite time of year. And it was no wonder that she chose to have a DC Christmas wedding when she married her long time love Matt at the Intown Uptown Inn in the city. It was an amazing day with a small and intimate wedding with 30 of their closest friends and family.

Their signature drink was homemade hot chocolate with a dash of peppermint

Guests found their seats with personalized Christmas ornaments that also served as the favor

While I love taking portraits during the wedding day, I also love the moments that happen in between. There are so many emotions that happen on the wedding day. From laughing at the best man’s embarrassing speech to the point when the bride and groom realize, “Oh my gosh, we’re really married now.” It’s so much fun to be part of each and every moment of it. Here are just a handful of them from 2010.
